This throw is large and soft and can be made any size to suit with a flexible 12 row repeat. The model is 50" x 60" knit with James Brett Marble Chunky…big, fluffy and soft..

Materials: - 1550 yds Bulky Weight Yarn (You can vary this based on the size you want to make.
- US 10 1/2 (11 can be used for a bit loser knit)
BO: bind off
CO: cast on
k: knit
p: purl
k2tog: knit 2 sts together
RS: right side
ssk: (slip, slip, knit) slip 2 sts (one at a time) knitwise to the right-hand needle; return sts to the left -hand needle and knit them together through the back loops
st(s): stitch(es)
WS: wrong side
yo: yarn over
Pattern Stitch: (multiple of 12 + 1)
Row 1 (RS): K6, k1, *k2tog, k2tog, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, ssk, ssk, k1* repeat between ** 14 times, k6
Row 2 (WS): K6, p across to last 6, k6.
Rows 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15:
Repeat row 1
Rows 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16:
Repeat row 2
Rows 17 – 22:
Knit
Repeat rows 1-22 for pattern.
CO 181 sts. Knit 8 rows. Work in pattern stitch to desired length ending with row 22. Knit 2 rows. Bind off loosely.

I think "Midnight Hues" is a good name for the afghan.
ReplyDeleteCathedral afghan blanket: I assume this requires size 6mm needles, which is standard for chunky yarn, and is this yarn the colour no MC34. We are lucky to have so many beautiful colours and variations to choose from. I hope to make a smaller, shawl-lap blanket one. With many thanks.
