  2. What a very pretty scarf!!! One question though. As I was reading through the pattern, ... On row 4 did you mean to write .... P1,k6,k3,p1...?? If so why not just k9??
    Thanks

  4. I am confused, row 4 and 10 of the chart don't seem to match the written instructions. Can you confirm? Beautiful pattern!

  5. Thank you...whoever you are. I have corrected the chart. I had two versions and the wrong one was updated. Should be correct now.

  6. I started this scarf with the original pattern that was posted, and also had problems with row 4. now that you've updated, it seems that there is a problem with row 3...am I misreading the directions and the chart?

  7. Row 3 seems fine, but wonder what you think is the issue. I can't seem to fond one. Please let me know. Thanks.

  8. This will seem like the silly question but what is yo? I understand everything else but don't know what this means...if I am on knit and want to continue on knit how do I do yo? Thank you..Elizabeth

  9. Hi Elizabeth. Yo is a yarn over. If your yarn is behind your right needle because you're knitting, just bring the yarn to the front and over your right needle......continue knitting. You've made a stitch by making a hole in the project.
    Hope this helps.

    1. Please post progress report; I.e. 10 rows in 30 minutes, or 1" in one hour. I am physically challenged, and have almost always stuck with k and p, but I dearly love this, and want to make one for my elders wife. I must pace myself. Your scale info would help me and my therapist get it started in mid June. I will have had 6 to 10 physical therapy sessons by then. You can private message me if you prefer. Or email at beatrice.ingram62@gci.net. Thank you in advance. Have a Blessed time making this beautful pattern for your daughter.

  11. I'm glad you asked. Please feel free. I'd love to see it when you finish. I love that she will get to dye it. The fibre ii made this with was hand painted by a friend and I spun to knit. Enjoy!

  13. Hi - I'm having trouble with row 5 in the chart. It seems like there should be 10 stitches at the beginning of the row, then repeats of 10, then 5 stitches at the end. But in row 5, there are two ktogs and only 1 yo, leaving one with only 9 stitches in that column. Also, when I knit those first 10 stitches, I don't have enough stitches! If it goes: k4 (stitches 1-4), yo (stitch added), k2tog (stitches 5-6), k3 (stitches 7-9), then ktog (stitches 10 + ???). Does that makes sense? Same for the end of that row, when I yo (stitch added), then k4 (stitches 1-4), but that leaves stitch 5 at the end extra! What do I do? Or am I missing something obvious? Thanks for any help!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Okay - never mind. I've been using stitch markers to separate the repeats (newbie and want to be mistake free) but it seems like with row 5 everything shifts down the row one, including the markers...so the chart isn't really representative in the row, right?

  22. Hi Christina - i'd like to make this wider and i see that you say it's easy. would i just add a few multiples of 5?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Hi there...it's a 10 row repeat, so you would need to add as many additional multiples of 10 as you would like to meet your width.

    Thanks.

  27. I cannot believe you posted this delicious design for free! Thank you!5 I just returned from my first-ever Yarn Crawl where I visited 2 shops and came home with loads of yarn and a fistful of patterns. I bought one little skein of a delightful red and hot pink sock yarn but had no plans for it till I saw your shawl. My favorite sister-in-law will be so surprised! Can't wait to get started! Thanks again.

  29. What a lovely scarf pattern. I haven't tried any of these beautiful lacy scarves yet but this one has caught my eye. And, I may have the perfect yarn for it already.

Just an FYI for those who want to save this to their computer rather than printing it out -- I use a program that converts web pages to PDFs. I've successfully saved this one using http://www.web2pdfconvert.com

The draw back is you get everything on the post including pages of comments. But when I want to print this I'll be able to select which pages I want to print. Thanks for sharing a beautiful project with us.

  30. Thank you, Bonnie. And thanks for the PDF suggestion. You can also do a copy and paste to a Word document to save to your computer or print out. I'll work on they to get a PDF of these soon. Please let me know how it turns out. Post it on Ravelry if you can too. Enjoy!!

Not sure where to go from here :(

  47. Hi Caroline....It's been knit many times and I haven't heard anything so I'd have to re-knit to check what you're having issues with. I'm in the middle of festival planning so it might be a bit, but I will check. thanks.

  48. Love this pattern. Is there an easy way to print? Or copy to pages on my iPad and then print?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Hi, love this scarf! Little scared about the pattern! What do I do for yo(x3)? Is that yo, k, yo, k, yo, k? Or is that a big hole? How do I knit yo(x3) on the wrong side if that is a hole? Please help!

    ReplyDelete
  50. To copy, just select the page and transfer to a word doc to print or paste it wherever you print from. Good luck.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hi Lana....yo(3x) makes a big hole and you only do it on the right side, then from the wrong side you k1, p1, k1 to keep your stitches. Hope this helps.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Thanks Christina, it helps, I am making a small sample, to see how it should look. So far, not so good, may be my yarn is too bulky. The even rows where it says knit all stitches, I want to purl all of them to make it look smooth, not so knobby, if this makes any sense. Thanks, I will work it out!

    ReplyDelete
  53. Hello - can you tell me how much yarn you need to make this scarf please? I buy most of it on line so I don't want to buy too little or too much! Many thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  54. In the pattern there is a pattern row with a yo (x3). Does this mean repeat the whole row x3 or do 3yo?

    ReplyDelete
  55. You yarn over 3 times to make a larger hole.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Hi Karen...the pattern states 445 yards of fingering weight yarn. That is what I used for the scarf you see. Thanks.

  61. If using dk yarn how many would you need to cast on please?

    ReplyDelete
  62. I'm almost new to knitting lace and I'm really enjoying working this pattern up into a scarf for my sister. It's just the right level of difficulty and flexibility. Whenever I feel like some downtime, I open up your blog and work a few repeats. Thanks so much for posting this!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Thank you, Clare. I appreciate your kindness.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Regarding DK yarn....The repeat is 10 sts, so you could remove 10 or 20 depending on how wide you would like it.

    ReplyDelete
  65. This note is for everyone who is confused regarding row 5. Please note that the pattern repeat on this row shifts one stitch to the right. The pattern is written correctly and has been tested many times. I have not suggested using markers for this reason. If you are using markers you will have to move them over on row 5 and then back on row 11 when the pattern repeat is shifted back to the left.

    Thanks.

  80. I was searching for a lace pattern that would work on a moebius scarf and found your Circles of Infinity version. It didn’t have a chart and I got confused at the YO(3x) part. Then I looked up this one as the infinity one is based on it. Yay! The chart explained it! It’s a lovely pattern and I’ve got some gorgeous laceweight raspberry alpaca/mohair blend that’s perfect for it! THANK YOU! I’m going to swatch this bit to work out my stitch count. And then… I get to play… Couldn’t be happier!
