A Fall Retreat

Ok....so sometimes you just have to get away to knit, spin and partake of general shenanigans with your fellow fiberists.  It was a wonderful weekend in Sewanee on the mountain....just us, the wind and trees...and plenty of fibre.  Add in a little weaving, a yarn bombing and a beautiful peace banner for St. Mary's.

Working in Red

Ok....so just a little February red knitting and spinning.  The knitting is a test knit in mohair for Jo Strong....lovely shawl design, quick and fun knit.  Loved doing the test knit.

Finally Some Handspun

Ok....it's been a bit since I've done some spinning, but this is a good start.  Beautiful gradient of white to sage by Jan of Daily Fibers.  Love it!  Since I did make some fibre purchases at Fiber in the Boro...hopefully more spinning to come soon.

Well...here is another from Spinning Moon Farm...beautiful and a joy to spin.  This is Sassafras Syrup.

Another great fibre from Lisa at Dicentra Designs....this is three plied Moon Rise and so lovely and round.  Love the way the yarn evolved on this.

And the last from River's Edge Fiber Arts...which got the thick, thin, whatever I felt like treatment.

Fibre Retreat

Ok....so a few of us gals met at St. Mary's in Sewanee to spin, knit, eat and retreat.  It was a lovely weekend in the hills of Tennessee.  A weekend to see friends, catch up on some crafting and enjoy a beautiful fall full of colour.

Sari Silk

Ok.....so while in Monteagle at the Weekend of Fiber retreat, I picked up some lovely sari silk fabric yarn.  Great colours that I'm looking forward to incorporating into projects....weaving, knitting....whatever is calling for them.

Spinning of Late

Ok....so I have been on a knitting kick which means a hiatus from spinning and weaving.  However, recently I took part in the Weekend of Fiber in Monteagle, TN which was yet again a chance to visit with friends and catch up on a little spinning.

I spun 18 oz of Far Out Farm's lovely Cotswold alpaca blend in blue...fun and lovely.

I also spun a gradient from Daily Fibers that will make it's way into a project soon.  Keep an eye out for another pattern using this lovely yarn.

Twinleaf

Ok....so I brought three knitting projects with me to the island...three projects I specifically didn't work while home because I was saving them to knit here...three projects which I've done very little on because I bought a pattern and yarn here. Really? Yes, really.

I fell in love with the Twinleaf pattern as soon as I saw it and am now knitting the first of two I purchased yarn for...crazy I know, but it had to be done.  Lovely pattern and beautiful meadow yarn by The Fiber Company.  Supporting local shops don't you know...again.
