Christmas Crafts

Ok....so although I took knitting with me to Michigan, I spent any free time I could for spinning and weaving.  the weaving really took me by surprise and I'm pretty happy with the result.  The spinning....well, it just relaxed me and I actually got a lot done.  So, I wasn't sure about spinning in front of my brother and cousin because they're boys and actually they have to have a laugh about everything...so I could only imagine what the spinning would set off.  It wasn't as I expected, actually it was just the opposite....as we were all (6 adults) sitting together and I was spinning...everyone was staring...everyone was mesmerized...including the boys.

I found that every time I sat down to spin, everyone stared and it got quiet.  Ok...this goes right back to my theory of meditation spinning.  I know it has that affect on me, but it also seems to have that affect on the observer.  Everyone loved what I was doing.  The comments (from my brother of course)....why don't you have a wheel yet (I was expecting....seriously, that's what you do in your free time, can't you just buy yarn).....and I think it's trying to escape (when the roving pulled apart)....that's it....seriously, that's it.  I think it's interesting that my brother thinks I should get a wheel.

They were also interested in watching my weaving too.  My brother even helped warp the loom with me.  These are activities that I thought would draw many comments because of my obsession and all the fibre, but my family....my very cool family (boys included) loved what I was working on.

Kathy....well, let's just say the spinning had her in a trance.  Perfect......

Ok...now I'm wondering if I can hypnotize someone?  I'm wondering if I can help people quit smoking or diet?  I'm wondering if I can just help people sleep better?  I know I do.  The possibilities......the infinite possibilities.

Your projects look fantastic! I am so in awe of both the weaving and the spinning.
